I don’t understand hoarding.
I’m not a neat freak — not even close. Yet when stuff piles up, it feels suffocating.
I watched a show the other day and it featured a young woman who was already well on her way to becoming a hoarder. As they held up items to either throw away, keep, or give away, she wept.
I didn’t get it.
She was sleeping on the floor because her room was so filled with stuff.
Do you know that feeling when you start to get a little self-righteous (I would never do that/say that/believe that, etc.)?
We are letting go of all the junk today on #livefreeThursday http://ctt.ec/bGySY+ @suzanneeller
I was on my way there, when the Holy Spirit reminded me that I have held on to memories and feelings long after their usefulness. There have been times when I’ve slept on the floor emotionally when God offers a King-sized bed of healing.
What are we holding onto?
Why have we held on so long?
Why do we weep over releasing that which keeps us imprisoned?
That’s our revolutionary prayer today.
We’re going to release our hold and loosen our grip.
We are going to let him clean the clutter of old feelings and climb into wholeness, where we belong.
Lord, I hold these old emotions up to you. This is a burden I’m no longer willing to carry around. I’ve hold on for a reason, and only you truly know what that is. I give it up and I refuse to pick it back up or store it in my heart. I’ll be tempted, because the accuser knows that it keeps me sleeping on the floor of my faith when you offer so much more. Yet you are greater. Thank you for that.
Day 13 of 21 Days to Revolutionary Prayer
Honestly answer the three questions:
- Why are you holding on?
- Why so long?
- Why do you weep over releasing that which keeps you bound?
There’s no shame in your answers, only honest reflection.
Say goodbye to those emotions and old feelings. Hold them up. Let him take them from you.
How do I begin to heal? (Radio conversation with Suzie about this topic.)
