I’m tired of my destructive and selfish behavior.
That was the status update of a brave person on Facebook recently.
Maybe you think that Facebook isn’t the place to share your deepest thoughts, but in this case it was a note to every single person in this man’s life. He bravely took his behavior and shortcomings to the light and exposed them.
He also asked for help.
All I could think of as I read the raw, honest confession and request for support in a new way of living was that this was a great way to begin that journey.
It’s so much easier to hide those things, those relationships, those feelings in the shadows where no one can see them as you tentatively try to move beyond the entanglements that keep you stuck.
But Suzie, what if this person falls flat on their face?
He might. But he also has the opportunity to get right back up. No one promised easy when you are trying to live free. Falling, learning through your mistakes, running after wholeness — it’s all part of the journey. Every single step.
I, for one, will be praying with him. Cheerleading as he moves from honesty to the hardest journey of his life to freedom and discovery.
To live free: Be honest with yourself about the things that keep you stuck.
Scripture: Psalm 25:5 Lead me in your truth and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation; for you I wait all the day long.
Just you and God: Stop hiding. It just keeps you bound. Take it to the Light. Take it to close, trusted godly friends. Take that first, brave step toward wholeness.
Genuinely no matter if someone doesn’t know after that its up to other
users that they will help, so here it occurs.
