Have you ever came to a point where you know that you know that God is speaking to you?
Not audibly, but deeply, so insistent that it cannot be ignored?
I’m there, my friend.
I sense that God is leading me to take a month-long sabbatical from blogging and much of my social media.
Why?
Because He says so.
Sometimes, even if it doesn’t seem to make sense, if God says to do it, then that’s a path I want to willingly and joyfully take.
It’s not up to me to do a work for God, and not listen to God.
So, I’ll be back September 12th full time, digging into scripture with you, praying and discovering so much more with you. Because I am privileged to write Encouragement for Today devos for Proverbs 31 Ministries, I’ll drop in a couple of times when a devo runs, but otherwise I’m taking a spiritual rest with my Heavenly Father.
Here are a few of the favorite blog posts just for you, in the meantime.
- There you are! (faith)
- My Mother’s Hands (family)
- Forgiving the unthinkable (faith, feelings)
- Try to outgive me (faith)
- Slow it down (faith, family, feelings)
- A love letter (faith)

Enjoy Suzie!
Suzie,
I know you get comments from so many women, I’m sure it’s impossible to keep straight who might be who. I have written to you this way several times over the past several months. I am so happy that you are going to be spending some quality time with God. I will keep you in my prayers while you do. If it please God, while you are resting and rejuvenating, think on how deeply your blog and your words are changing the world for the better. I have personally reached out to you and in doing so, found the strength to leave my abusive husband. Not only have I begun the process, but when I talked with him about my decision, I did so from a position of forgiveness and grace, which resulted in a no drama, no harm done meeting. I know that your counsel and concern helped get me there. Thank you so very much. Enjoy your month!
Shellyl, first know that your in God’s will. Some additional resources that helped me were Dobson’s book, ‘love must be tough’ and ‘boundaries’ by cloud and townsend. Very brave to do what you have done. Hang in there. I commit to praying for you and your marriage, for healing, guideance and PEACE.
Way to say yes to God! Enjoy this time and I’ll be praying for you! 🙂
Hey Suzie,
Praying that your sabbatical is filled with goodness! Look forward to resuming our editing work in September. Let me know if I should send devos Sept 13th or 20th.
Enjoy!
Have a GREAT GREAT time with Our LORD and your family & friends!!!!!!!! Can’t wait to hear from you again!!!!!!
YES! Saying yes to God is the only way.
Amen! You are such a blessing to many people Suzie. What a great reminder to be still and listen for His still small voice. I can’t wait to hear the rest of the story. What He is going to show you through your obedience to Him even when it doesn’t make sense. One of my favorite verses is Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding, In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your path.”
If Jesus routinely took time to spent apart from people, alone with God, then it is good advice for all of us during the seasons God calls you do so! Blessings, and fruitful, restful restoration with HIM!
Suzie, enjoy your time with the Lord, and your family. I am so grateful for your devotionals, and Thank you for the time you take to encourages all us sisters, I know that in doing so you take time away from your family. I praise God for you, I’ll will miss you but see you back soon….
Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him Psalm 37:7
Be still and know that He is God. Much love and enjoy your rest in Him!
