Maybe that seems like a silly question, but sometimes we make Him really, really small.
Or maybe that’s just me. ♥
I make Him only as big as church attendance. If I go, that’s faith. That’s my relationship with God.
Or He’s only as big as a best friend. I treat Him like a great pal, warm and fuzzy, a God who I can treat however I want, and He’s always there waiting for me. If I ignore Him, He’ll still be there.
Or He’s only as big as my immediate need. My God who I come to when I need something, and I can’t fix it on my own.
Worshiping with others is an immense privilege, and my friendship with God is oh-so-real, and He is my Source in the hard places, but He’s bigger than that.
When we discover His greatness, we discover the depth of our relationship with Him.
We discover what it really means to call ourselves Christian.

Just You and God
In week #2 of this study we’ll look at the greatness of God.
Why is this important?
When we make Him small, we miss out on the power of God. Yes, He’s our best friend. Yes, He’s faithful. Yes, He’s our comfort, joy, peace, rescuer, healer.
He’s also omnipotent. Omniscient. Creator. His truth reaches to the skies. His loving kindness is great above the heavens.
Discovering the greatness of God isn’t about trying to make you small. We are small in relation to God, but discovering the greatness of God unleashes power in our relationship with Him.
His power.
Read the following scriptures. Write one word or phrase that describes God according to the scripture. {Share that here as well.}
Q: What does it mean to you to make God “small?” Making It Real: Whose Faith is It Anyway is a book I wrote for teens, but it’s a great resource for anyone who desires a faith that is their own — real, relevant, relationship-based rather than rule-based, and life changing.
NOTHING is too great for God. In Christ is resurrection power! Amen and Amen! So often we forget that we have Christ in us, and when we call on his name, we have access to His resurrection power in our lives. I know I limit Him, by not remembering this!
He is Faithful – even when I am not. He is all Powerful. He is so loving – and shares His power with us through His Holy Spirit. He is all knowing – and knows the big picture where we see only a small part. To think that He doesn’t have all the answers, and we have to struggle through on our own really diminishes Him. He is my great awesome God and he is limitless!
Interestingly, I was having a conversation with a friend yesterday, in which we discussed how it’s easy to tell God how big our problems are but so very, very often we neglect to tell our problems just how big our great, good God is. But our God is more faithful than we could ever imagine. And He is indeed sovereign. He places resurrection power within us. He his higher, and wider and deeper and just plain MORE than we realize. May we never fail to just stand in awe of His great character and presence in our lives.
There is a song I used to teach the children when I was teaching. “My God is so big so strong and so mighty, there’s nothing my God cannot do.” In Psalm 108:4 God is Faithful. His love will not fail me. In Jeremiah 32:17 He is Soverign and we are reassured nothing is to hard for Him. In Ephesians 1:19-20 God is powerful. In Isaiah 55:9, He is all-knowing. When I struggle I am reminded that God is in my tomorrow, God was with me in my past and God is present with me know. Great is His faithfullnes.
Unfailing Powerful Incredible Amazing ……He is my constant, always God that is beyond my wildest dreams! My mind limits Him but He is limitless! My heart desires more and he delivers more than I could ever ask or imagine!
