Spiritually hungry for faith that would change the world around me. That would change me. That wasn’t dictated by theology, but intimacy.
I woke up in the night wrestling with this desire.
Have you ever been there?
Are you there now?
That journey led me to sit in the book of Luke for nearly two years. I nearly laughed out loud when my new home church started a study in Luke, one that went on for over a year.
I was surrounded by the words of Luke.
I sat daily with Jesus and the disciples.
I started to listen to them, really listen, for they had no idea where Jesus was taking them,
He said, “Come with me,” and they responded with a yes.
That “yes” didn’t stick at first with one. It surprised another. It felt right to two brothers, who thought it meant that they were special.
Boy, did they all have a lot to discover.
Which is exactly what happened as I began to say yes to the invitation Jesus issues.
Does Jesus still ask us to follow him today?
Absolutely, and when we say yes, it has the power to completely change the way we view our faith, and the way we seek our Savior and the way we love people.
When I was about half-way through the book of Luke, I started to understand something about myself.
You see, I know that God asks us to follow him in a thousand different ways. Sometimes the call to “come with me” takes us into more challenging areas. When that happened — before this journey — I listened. I prayed. I sought wise counsel. I weighed it.
To be honest, that can look really spiritual on the outside, but the Holy Spirit began to show me that it was my way of delaying my yes.
If I knew it was God, why wouldn’t I just say yes?
That changed. I learned that if He says, “Come with me,” no matter what it is, it’s my privilege to say yes.
Right then.
No matter where it leads.
No matter what He asks.
It’s natural that no slips in. It’s natural to want to linger over a decision, and sometimes that’s exactly what we need to do.
Except for when we know that it’s God and He is asking us to take that leap of faith.
Are you hungry for more in your relationship with God?
Do you long for your faith to make a difference, especially to those within reach?
Do you want to walk with Jesus in such a way that you are forever changed?
Whisper yes to that invitation.
I can honestly say that I have never felt more rested, more alive, or more challenged in my faith, but what I truly love is the truth that I’ve discovered:
The real adventure is walking with Jesus every single day.
My prayer is that it will become a movement, not just a book. That women all over the world will say yes to this magnificent invitation of “Come With Me,” and be forever changed.
I am so planning on making my summer devotionals/prayer time/ a study of Luke … You have made me want to delve into walking beside the disciples … I would have never thought to go on a journey with Jesus in this way before you planted the idea … I have personalized/verse mapped verses before but never whole gospel studies … Thank You so much …
Dear Susanne, I just finished reading your first chapter. Thank you, thank you for doing the hard things and staying on this journey with God. It is a huge testimony to all of us as we listen to your heart. I wish I could give you a hug in person. I love the idea of being the thirteenth disciple. It gives me a feeling of, I don’t know, maybe a deeper awareness of walking alongside my Savior – as if it was seeing him face-to-face as the disciples did. I know I can, through His Word, but this was a meaningful word picture to me. May we all be drawn closer to Him as we read your life experiences is my prayer. Gratefully, Cordelia
Wow the thirteenth disciple! A big responsibility. I have a hard time showing grace and love to my family when they do not return phone calls or they do not acknowledge my words i need to share with them. I am not sure how I could go out into the world and be Jesus’ helper, disciple. I do not think I am good enough. I need to study the bible more. I need to continue to remind myself how much God loves me. But we all have the stuff of life going on. I so appreciate this book Suzie. The first chapter really touched my heart! I need to get out of me and into the world and help spread Jesus’ words!!!! Thank you for that reminder and I pray the women and men who follow you will be reminded how much God loves all of us!

Praise Jesus..love and hugs out to you all ..Sisters in Jesus Christ
There is a potency to knowing that His beautiful words are for ALL of His disciples… even today. And you have peeled back the layers of what that means for us today through your writing as well, and I can hardly wrap my heart around what He is going to accomplish for His glory with each page of your book, Suzie! Praying for each book that goes out in May! xxoo
It is very hard for me to know when it is God speaking or my own desires? Do others have that problem as well? Or I do like you said you do and pray about it and that delays my yes and then I’m still not sure about my decision. So intimacy with God is what has been showing up this week as to where I need to be working and I believe this book will help me tremendously with that! Thank you for sharing your life so that we can learn from you

Wow congrats. Beautiful cover.
Yes, I believe God calls us every day. It’s hard to say ‘yes’ every time but I try.
