I still have them, the love letters.
When I pull out the box of love letters Richard wrote when we were just two young kids in community college, I can’t help but smile. They are so earnest. So unaware of what we would one day face together. So infatuated and crazy in love.
Those love letters were the beginning of our story, but it’s the love letters that have been written since that time that really capture this girl’s heart.
They were written in the dusky morning hours while this city girl and her country guy gathered cows for milking.
They were written in a hospital where we gave birth to our first child.
They were written when we found out we were having twins, and our first was less than a year old.
They were written on long walks, in tough talks, in fights and tears and working through conflict, and standing firm in our love for each other.
They were written during battles with cancer, twice.
They were written when our business struggled and we stood in a driveway, watching our dreams drive away.If the Bible is a love letter and I'm the recipient, will it change me forever? #livingfreetogether #LifeShaking Word #ComeWithMe https://wp.me/p4jbdw-2TN Click To Tweet
They were written in the thousands of memories between the night we walked down the aisle after saying, “I do,” and today.
That love letter isn’t a piece of paper, but the very real relationship that we’ve formed as we live life together.
We started this 30 Days of Life Shaking Word study with the premise that God’s Word is a love letter.
As much as I treasure the earthly love I’ve found, there’s a greater love letter being written in each of us. It starts with the Word that leads to an encounter with Jesus. . . but it doesn’t stop there.
When we begin to take the Word to heart and live as if it’s true, it leads to this question:
If the Bible is a love letter and I’m the recipient, will it change me forever?
The answer is yes. Absolutely, yes. I want to challenge you to continue to read the Word in this new light.
Soak it in.
Don’t rush it.
Savor the words.
Dig so much deeper when you don’t understand.
We’ll do more studies in the future in this beautiful community of friends, but for now just keep reading the love letter of Ephesians.
Keep in mind the flawed, but chosen man who wrote it from prison. Ask the Holy Spirit to teach you. Stay in one paragraph for days if needed.
I’ll quote my favorite quote ever one more time as we end this 30 Days to Life Shaking Study of the Word:
The Bible is alive; it speaks to me. It has feet; it runs to me. It has hands; it lays hold of me. ~ Martin Luther
My prayer for each of you is that the Word begins to speak to you. Truth. Hope. Transformation. Life! That it runs to you, but also that you run to it. And that it lays hold of you, shaking up your faith in the most beautiful of ways.
I’d love to hear how this study impacted you. I’d love to pray with you as you continue to read this life changing love letter.
