Suzie’s method of brainstorming is the first to actually make sense and work for me. I am incorporating this method into all of my writing projects is changing how I brainstorm, write, and work concisely for my reader. ~ Melanie Davis Porter
The pre-training sessions were invaluable. I accomplished so much before I even arrived at the retreat. Not only did I learn from Suzie’s teachings at the retreat, the hands-on exercises and input from other writers help me solidify my book proposal. Finally, I am ready to hit send! ~ Vickie Henderson, author, speaker, podcast host
Suzie Eller’s Breathe writing retreat was an incredible jumpstart. It put me on the path of writing my book and providing new tools to hone my writing skills. Suzie’s teachings, fellowship with other writers, and the time to hone my craft were priceless. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience! ~ Christy Rodriguez, Brave Girl Community
The Breathe Writing Retreat fully lived up to its name: it was a wonderful opportunity to get away, breathe, and focus on writing. While so many writing conferences are packed with large meetings, intense workshops, and networking, this was the perfect combination of short teachings, ample time for individual writing, and one-on-one time with Suzie herself. The number of participants kept the meeting intimate and allowed for connection among the writers. Suzie is a breath of fresh air in an industry that can be overwhelming. I left this writing retreat refreshed and with a clear plan for my book. ~ Kathryn Gardner-Vandy, professor, writer
Join bestselling author and writing mentor, Suzie Eller, in a unique writing retreat designed for the beginning nonfiction book writer.
While the spring event is an intensive retreat for intermediate nonfiction writers who desire to get their books in the hands of an agent or publisher, the fall event is more low key. It is a more relaxed teaching event for nonfiction writers closer to the beginning of their publishing journey. The focus is on the craft and business of writing a first book.
This retreat is a more intensive “boot-camp” style retreat for intermediate nonfiction writers. This retreat includes three pre-training sessions and homework.
What is an intermediate writer? For this retreat, a writer has an idea for a book and is willing to do the hard work to hone their idea, define their audience, identify the value in their book, and craft a proposal and sample chapters.

What makes this writing retreat different?
Most writing conferences offer a one-to-three day writing/teaching experience and costs can be higher — double or triple the cost of this retreat.
This retreat offers a weekend of teaching and writing, but also includes three pre-teaching sessions and homework. These sessions are offered through a face-to-face group conference call or video in the weeks leading up to the retreat.
Training is taken deeper with additional sessions including group brainstorming at the retreat. Writers have blocks of time to simply write in a beautiful ranch setting, taking what they’ve learned and fleshing out or fine tuning their proposal and sample chapters. It also includes a limited number of one-on-ones with Suzie during the retreat.
