Breathe Retreat, April 2019
Is your 2019 New Year’s Resolution to hone your book idea and find a publisher?
Join bestselling author and writing mentor, Suzie Eller, in a unique writing retreat designed for the intermediate to advance nonfiction writer.
What is an intermediate to advanced writer? This is a writer who sees writing as more than a hobby. They are willing to take steps to learn the craft of writing as well as the business of writing. For this retreat, a writer has an idea for a book and is willing to do the hard work to hone their idea, find their audience, and craft a proposal and sample chapters.
Suzie (Suzanne) Eller is a bestselling author and Bible study teacher, Intl. speaker, top 100 Christian women’s blogger, co-host for More Than Small Talk podcast with Holley Gerth and Jennifer Watson, and writer for Encouragement for Today, a devotion reaching 1 million women daily.
Suzie began her writing journey 20 years ago.
She is the author of 10 traditionally published books, hundreds of articles and columns, has taught at writing conferences across the nation, and mentored writers through established writing training programs.
Who should attend?
This retreat is designed for intermediate to advanced writers with a solid book idea who desire to hone their nonfiction book idea, create a proposal, and flesh out their first two chapters. It is also for the writer who may have several book ideas and who desires to learn what to do once a book idea is chosen.
What makes this writing retreat different?
Most writing conferences offer a one-to-three day writing/teaching experience and costs can be higher — even double or triple the cost of this retreat.
This retreat offers a weekend of teaching and writing, but also includes three pre-teaching sessions and homework. These sessions are offered through a face-to-face group conference call or video. Pre-training sessions will be offered the first week of February, the first week of March, and the second week of April.
This helps an attendee arrive at the retreat ready to go!
At the retreat, Suzie will take the training deeper with three new sessions, as well as offer group brainstorming sessions. Writers will have blocks of time to simply write in a beautiful ranch setting, taking what they’ve learned and fleshing out or fine tuning their proposal and sample chapters.
What is the cost?
Note: Registration begins January 3rd, 2019. Once we reach capacity of 30, registration will be closed. UPDATE: PLEASE USE THE CONTACT FORM BELOW TO CHECK ON AVAILABILITY BEFORE PAYING THE DEPOSIT. We’ll let you know immediately if there is room. ♥

Your fee includes three days and two nights of bunk-style group lodging and meals from Friday evening to Sunday at lunch.
Your fee also includes all pre-training sessions, handouts, and teaching sessions at the ranch.
New Life Ranch Retreat Schedule:
- The first teaching session begins on Friday evening with Suzie Eller.

- Sunday morning includes a devotional time and final teaching.
- After lunch on Sunday, we’ll meet for encouragement and a challenge. Then you’ll head home, your idea honed with all the elements of your book proposal in place.
Housing is bunk-style. Due to our smaller number, there will be approximately 4-7 people in each room. There are showers and bathrooms in each room. Linens are not provided so you will need to bring sheets, towels, a pillow, and a blanket. (Those of us driving can bring extra clean linen, if you need!)
There is one 4-person house available with 4 private bedrooms and 2 and a half baths, as well as a small kitchenette. There is an extra $55 per night fee for these rooms. Please note if you are interested, but with the understanding that they may not be available. They will sell out quickly. <– UPDATE: Private rooms have sold out.
Internet is not widely available and cell service is unavailable at the ranch. Family can reach you in case of an emergency at the NLR office, and there is Internet service available in some of the main meeting rooms. While this may seem like an issue, it’s priceless as it allows our writers to write without distraction.
How do I pay?
A $100 nonrefundable deposit is due to hold your place.
The remainder is due by March 25th.
You are welcome to pay the entire amount now, if you wish!
PLEASE NOTE: If a refund is requested, pre-training will be assessed at $75 per session. There are no refunds after March 30, 2019. ~ Suzie
Where is New Life Ranch?
New Life Ranch is located on the Arkansas/Oklahoma border. It’s a tucked away treasure where visitors can hike, kayak, canoe, zip line, superman swing, and ride horseback on a rugged trail. It’s scenic. It’s peace-filled.
At this time we are not scheduled for activities, except for a short hike to the lake and a hot chocolate/Smore’s night on Friday. You are absolutely free to kayak or hike when training isn’t scheduled.
Nearest airport: XNA (about 35 minutes — you are responsible for transportation to and from ranch)
Second nearest airport: TUL (approximately 1.15 minutes — you are responsible for transportation to and from ranch)

Can I share this with other writers? You can.
What is the Ranch like? I have held several retreats at New Life Ranch. Here’s a few fun pictures to show you the gorgeous setting, as well as some of the facilities. We’ll start with a teaching by the lake. . .
Can you tell me a little bit about future events? Yes, I’ll host a fall event in 2019. While the spring event is an intensive retreat for intermediate and advanced nonfiction writers who desire to get their books in the hands of an agent or publisher, the fall event is more low key. It is a fun, relaxed, teaching event for beginners and intermediate writers who want to learn the craft and business of writing their first book.
If you want to be notified when registration opens in late June, send your name, email address, and one reason you hope to attend this retreat. I can’t wait to hear from you!
We have one spot open for the April retreat!
If you want to come to the April retreat or to be added to the waiting list for the Fall retreat, send your info!
