You got ants in your pants.
Did you hear that as a child?
It hasn’t gone away. It seems to crop up the worst when I sit down to pray. Ten different thoughts assault my brain: pay that bill, did the mail truck just run?, call the doctor and schedule a well checkup, this weekend is going to be crazy, why is my bra in the middle of the bedroom floor?, did I send that text I promised?. . .
Tell me it’s not just me.
Lingering is a lost art.
Today, let’s find it.
Lingering in God\’s presence is a lost art, but we can find it again. #ComeWithMe #13thdisciple http://ctt.ec/7Sjb9+ @suzanneeller
Let’s push past the “ants in the pants” feeling until it subsides.
When those thoughts start scrambling into your brain, pick up your pen and write them down. Then dismiss them. You’ll address them later.
This is your time with God and they don’t get to hijack it.
Day 11 of 21 Days of Revolutionary Prayer
We don’t usually worry about time in revolutionary prayer, but just for today set a timer for 15 minutes. We are doing that so we won’t worry about it or look at the clock.
When it goes off, spend just a couple minutes more with Him.
You can do that however you like: Read a devotion and let it soak into your busy soul. Write a powerful scripture in your journal and pray it out loud. Sit in silence and let it soothe your heart. Sing an old hymn. Talk to him a little longer, and just let that time unfold.
