Our last day of this adventure. . .
Can you believe it?
This prayer adventure has changed me. I hope that it’s changing you too.
It’s also shown me how challenging it is to make this a part of my life. It’s rich. It’s faith-changing. It’s also the one area where the enemy pulls no stops in all-out battle to keep me from doing it.
I can’t end this 21-day adventure without addressing a question that a lot of people have asked. A question I’ve asked at times as well.
You see, when prayer seems to be a battle anyway, the question seems to make sense.
If God is sovereign, why do we need to pray?
If we don’t receive the answer we want, is it a waste of time?
If two people on opposing sides are praying to “win,” that’s a conundrum; why bother?
The more that I study prayer, the more I see these as distracting questions. It’s not that they aren’t important, but they aren’t the focal point.
Prayer aligns our will with His.
All through the Bible men and women prayed.
Some prayers were answered miraculously and on the spot. Others prayed and the answers came, but not in their life time. Some prayed and God moved in the opposite direction of their wishes.
As they prayed, regardless of the final outcome, a secondary miracle took place.
Prayer was never meant to be about my wishes, my wants, who loses or who wins. Instead, prayer aligns my will with His. #ComeWithMe
When he said, “go,” they took steps of faith into the unknown — and that changed them.
When he said, “pray and believe,” they did, and their eyes were opened to the possibilities — and that changed them.
When he said, “no,” they sought his plan over their own — and that changed them.
Praying with our heart wide open to God’s will in the matter aligns our heart with his.
That’s what makes prayer revolutionary.
That’s what makes prayer transforming.
That’s the power in prayer.
My prayer is that we don’t stop at this 21-day mark.
Let’s look for God every single day. Talk to him. Partner with God as we pray for the nations. As we seek his heart. As we walk with him.
May I pray for you as we end this adventure?
Lord, align our hearts with yours. As I’ve went on my own adventure, I’ve realized how powerfully the enemy battles me in this area. I’m not alone in that. Remind us not to give up. Remind us of what is waiting as we seek you, and simply settle in your presence. Use us, Lord, as we trust and partner with you in prayer. Anoint our hearts and minds as we walk with you daily.
Day 21 of 21 Days to Revolutionary Prayer
Today, look for God’s heart in your prayer. Write that down. Ask God to shift your focus to His heartbeat in the matter.
Q: Does that change the way you see that prayer?
Q: How might it change you as you pray?
Q: What does it mean to “align your will with God’s?”
