I’m sitting her listening to The Wheels of the Bus Go Round and Round with 9-month old Luke. I shared with you last June how Luke came into our lives as a gift and a surprise. We will always be grateful to the birth parents who allowed my daughter and son-in-law (and all of us) to love sweet baby Luke.
Right now he’s jumping in his Jumpy Jupiter dancing with Gramma. It’s a sight you don’t want to see, but that we are both loving like crazy.
What a treasured moment.
How many simple moments like this will we look back on and realize how special they really were?
In the midst of busyness. In the midst of our plans. In the midst of all the things we think we should be accomplishing.
I realize that the most important thing I do today — though I have chapters to write, and devotions to finish, and speaking engagements to prepare — just might be dancing to The Wheels on the Bus Go Round and Round with a baby boy with blond curls spilling over blue eyes.
What a sweet gift you have received indeed. 16 years ago my daughter gave up a baby boy to the most loving family he could have ever gotten. We are so grateful for their love, care, values, and time provided to raise our little blond son & grandson, he was my first born grandson. No blue eyes but precious even to us none the less. We recently received pictures from his mom from the past year. We are so proud of him and them. My daughter has said many times “he was her gift to them.” She knows God was at work in all their lives to bring this about. Not to say it was not hard as it was not easy, sometimes regrets but mostly joy. Even today she says very wisely this was the best decision for him, they have provided him much including God and Jesus. We anxiously await annual updates from his mom but thanks to Facebook we can now be called Mom and Grandmother and his Mom thinks it is cool that he does. And we get to see what he is doing, how he thinks and what he looks forward to in this new age of technology. If it had not been for my BSF class lessons from Jeremiah, I don’t believe I could have gotten thru that time as I relied greatly on Jeremiah 29:11-13 to constantly remind me of God’s faithfulness and never ending presence in my life. Your Proverbs 31 posting and all the other faithful women of P31 have been an encouragement in my life and a grounded focus on where my strength truly comes from. I look forward to receiving it everyday. yours in Christ.
