I’m taking a break and that should be a good thing, right?
I know that God is asking me to step away for an entire month from social media and blogging.
If you disappear for a month on social media, do you cease to exist?
Well, of course not, and yet that’s the first thought that tends to hit. Especially when it such is a powerful way to connect and minister to women.
But I can’t talk to you about living free if I fail to do it myself.
Listening to the Lord and saying yes are a beautiful way to live free, and if he’s asking me to step away and spend time with him, then it’s a yes for me. There will be a couple of things that come your way between October 1 and October 31, because they were already in the queue, but otherwise this girl is going to be hanging out with the Lord.
This is the message I shared on my Facebook page.
In it, I share the struggle that we sometimes have when God asks us to do something counter-cultural, or perhaps counter-what-I-think-I-should-be-doing. There’s also a question for you in this video.
Questions from the video:
- What is God asking you to do?
- Are you resisting?
- Are you willing to say yes?
Suzie, i’m praying for you to have a quick recovery from strep throat. I’m pleased to hear that you’ll be taking a rest for a month! I pray that the Holy Spirit will breathe life and refreshing into your body. 🙂
I’ve been in a forced rest while recovering from breaking my shoulder in four places. It has been four months and I just started to slowly re-engage back into life a couple of weeks ago. I’m still recovering, but can appreciate that refreshing comes when we rest in Him. 🙂 I’ll be praying for you throughout your month of rest and your time in Kenya. See you in November.
Enjoy the time Suzie and many blessings to you. I was wondering, how do you really hear what God is asking? What if you have a feeling in your heart but are afraid or unsure of how to make it happen? The other question is what do you do if you feel you need time/rest but stopping out of regular routine, job etc is not possible?
Anyway, I love following your blogs and you help me a great deal.
I agree with Nancy how do we really hear what God is asking us to do.What is this calling thing I know we should always look above for the answer.Safe travels we all will be
thinking of you.
Linda, I felt this nudge that wouldn’t go away, so I sat with the Lord and explored it. I prayed about it, and I knew that it was time for rest. The more I prayed the more I realized it needed to be an extensive time, so I gave it a month and felt peace about that. I’ll still be working, but not on social media or blogging. This will give me a month of less Internet and more Christ so that I may refuel.
If you ever feel that “something” inside of you, explore it. It won’t contradict God’s word. It won’t lead you away from God’s heart. It will allow you to truly hear what God is trying to show you.
What a great question. Thank you, Linda.
Bless you Suzi. Thank you for all you do for other women in teaching, encouraging, etc. Thank you for your example in following where God leads. Have a wonderful month!
