If you came over from Encouragement for Today, welcome! I’ve been on a blogging break, but slipped in today so we could hang out together. In today’s devo I shared that our heart isn’t always trustworthy. But truth will set us free. Let’s take that deeper together today! ~ Suzie
Lies can tear up our heart
We know that truth is important, but the problem is truth doesn’t always feel true because we’ve believed the lie for such a long time. That’s why it’s so key to soak in truth daily — until it breaks through the lie. Until we embrace it. Until truth grows a new groove in our thinking . . .
So today I want to share 12 truths to transform a torn-up heart.
These are truths grounded in scripture. Perhaps one of these truths are exactly what your heart needs to hear today.
Truth #1) You are not required to do anything without God. So, stop trying to do it on your own. If shame or fear has caused you to hide from him, or if you have been told you are weak if you call out to God for help, silence that lie and run to your Heavenly Father who loves you like crazy.
2) You are chosen. God chose to love the entire world. That includes you. Always.
3) God sees you, and not in a bad way. Not in a “I’m gonna get you” or “you’ve messed up” kind of way. He truly sees you. He knows your potential. He knows how he crafted and formed you. He knows how hard you are trying. He is keenly aware of his plans for his daughter.
4) You are strong because he lives in you. You are braver than you know. You are stronger than you think. You are more capable than you can imagine. God knows all of that about you.
5) Your past does not define you. Your past is one chapter. God will not only redeem the hard parts of your story, but will write new chapters in your life.
6) God has removed your sins as far as the East is from the West. Jesus’ sacrifice atoned for your sins. They are covered. They are forgiven. You are free to be who you are today, rather than burdened with who you were yesterday.
7) God will not only redeem your story, but your story has the power to help others rewrite theirs. Amen. Somewhere there is someone who believes he or she is outside the love of God. Tell your story to that one. Invite them to experience restoration too.
8) You are viewed through the lens of the cross. Sure, you are scarred. Certainly, you’ve made mistakes. Yet the power of the cross covers you as you surrender to God’s love.
9) You are strong when you get back up. Falling or failing is hard but when you get back up, that’s strong! That’s bravery! Stop beating yourself up for the fail, and praise God for helping you stand back up, brush yourself off, and start running the race again. Bravo!
10) Jesus can heal your hurting heart. His entire mission statement is found in Luke 4:18-19. He came to heal your broken heart, and he’s really good at it. He’s not afraid of the messy state it is in. He is the ultimate heart surgeon.
11) You are gifted! Your talents might not look like everybody else, and that makes sense. God is a Creative, and your gifts were uniquely fashioned. Stop trying to be like everyone else and leap into God’s plan for you. If you don’t know what that is, ask him. He’ll show you the next step.
12) He is your defender. God doesn’t fight for us by slaying our enemies. Our strength comes from within. Our battle plan is to love like he loved us. This kind of “fight” makes no sense in the natural, but supernaturally we become victors as we establish deep roots in his love, anchor on the Rock, and become strong from the inside out.
My prayer today for each of us is that truth begins to unravel the lies that tangle our hearts.

We’ve purchased sewing equipment for a nonprofit that ministers to women once exploited. We believe that living free isn’t a singular journey. We are meant to live free together.

Just leave a comment. Share a prayer request, or share a truth you are living by right now. Whatever is on your heart, come around the table and let’s talk! We’ll choose one winner on October 25th.

Such a good reminder this morning, thank you! Prayer request is for my husband to find an amazing job that makes the many difficulties that he has gone through with his company show God’s hands in it all! Thank you!!!
Thank-you for these great truths! They are such wonderful reminders. I have been reminded of choosing truth a lot lately. I have believed lies for so long, GOD is breaking through those lies and HIS truths are making their way in.
Thank you for this encouragement today. When I try to take care things myself they generally do fail, but I know in my heart God has the best plan I just need to allow Him. His promises are real.
Thank you for your Godly wisdom and the reminders of these truths. Thank you for reminding me we are strong when we get back up and That God is there with us.
Thank you for sharing these truths. I ask you pray for our family during these days of change. We have a newborn and she is our second child. Lots to learn and adapt to. Also, our oldest child is dealing with jealousy. Thank you.
Refreshing. Praying , longing to move closer towards our grandbabes, Cincinnati and Chicago, pray that both my husband and I will be led by the Holy Spirit that He leads us. Thank you
I needed this today…and needed it many, many years ago! I have believed lies I’ve been told about myself for so long! I’ve been in depression many times and still struggle with it daily! Thank you! God is good and He loves me, too…just as I am! I don’t have to be perfect before I can pray to Him. That’s why we need Jesus; we are NOT perfect but He is! I’m going to print out the printable. I hope I win the journal, but if not, I sure needed your writing today. Thank you!🙋🏼💜🛐
Please pray for me. I have fallen and failed God so many times, I now believe that I am outside of His love, and not His daughter. I struggle to receive what Christ has done on the Cross as if it could truly be applied to me, I am so unworthy! When I read the Bible, I keep coming across all the stories about how the Israelites failed God, which led God to become so angry that He turned His back on them. I keep praying, “God, I believe, please forgive my unbelief” Unbelief is worse than sin, so how can God ever forgive me? I appreciate your prayers, I need help.
Tamara, I understand that struggle so much. I lived under shame and condemnation for a very long time. I praise God for who He is in your life and I pray you know His love and presence in a sweet and tangible way today. I pray His love penetrates your heart in ways you have never known. I am standing with you! We can know God loves us and we are free but it can take awhile to truly receive that in our hearts. God is there telling you those truths over and over, He is not condemning you because you struggle to believe it sometimes. I am praying for you today!!

Father, wrap around Regina and remind her she is not alone in her hardships of life. You understand her sadness and are next her walking with her through it. We love you and we are grateful for your promises and love. Amen.
Thanks for the God’s Truth replaces lies and Freedom chart. I need to remember that my sins are removed,I am lovely, and there is no flaw in me. Also I am holy, redeemed, and restored because I’m God’s child.
Thank you for the printable, I sometimes forget that I’ve got these truths locked in the file draws of my mind. I have go to inscribe them on my heart, so they can’t be lost in the clutter of the file drawers of my mind.
I would ask for prayer for a friend of mine, Amber, who lost her husband 5 months ago in a semi tractor accident. He was a young husband and father, leaving Amber and her two daughters behind. She is really struggling. Thank you for your prayers!
Asking for a prayer for my cousin Petra who although God has done amazing things in her life can’t see past her own loss, frustration and bitterness. She had a huge prayer answered but she doesn’t see it and is still bitter. Pray for me to keep seeing that God wants me to give her endless grace and that she will someday have a heart change for the Lord.
Oh how I could use some prayer on getting along with my ex when it comes to the raising of our children. We are on vastly different moral and spiritual ground now, with him scoffing at all things related to “church”. It is just a constant battle to try to respond respectfully when I am yelled at and when he doesn’t seem willing to have adult conversations where we discuss things. Thank you for the post and thank you in advance for the prayers.
Suzie, thank you for these beautiful truths today. It is a mixed bag for me here. I praise God for those lies that have been brokeyin my life but aloso the ones I still struggle with. The lie I struggle with the most right now, is the one about being gifted. Because of my hearing and quirks, being different has always been a bad thing. I have a hard time seeing myself as gifted. I don’t have the confidence sometimes and my assumption is I won’t be able to do it because I have too many hinderances. I am slow. I don’t retain info well among other things. I know I do it with God and He can do it but I just struggle with it a lot. Please pray I embrace God’s truth and keep moving forward, knowing even if it is different it is good because God is doing it. Love you!

Sweet Desiree, I hear your heart. My life verse from God is, “You are all together beautiful, my darling, there is no flaw in you.” Song of Songs 4:7. You are gifted by God and he made you perfect through the blood of Jesus. Love you friend.
Requesting prayer for my future daughter in law’s family. There has been a terrible fracture and a recent death has only made it worse. Lord please help this family heal!
During this season of the year I battle depression more than usual. Maybe it is past circumstances that happened during this season or maybe it is the lack of sunshine. Either way I continually remind myself that I am not alone and I am loved. Inside one of my bibles I have this truth jotted down. I can not run or hide from God for wherever I go, there I am and there is God. Joshua 1:9 New Living Translation (NLT) – “This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” This is not a suggestion, not a feel good about yourself and your circumstance, but a command! Do not be discouraged for God is with you wherever you go. If you are in trouble – God is there. If you are in doubt – God is there. If you are in joyful celebration – God is there. Every moment every day God is there loving me through. May the God of heaven cause us to rejoice in His presence and draw strength from His nearness.
Thank you for these truths Suzie, and for this post. I always look forward to reading your posts. I have been having a difficult time lately truly believing the truth that God says about me. I think partly because I don’t see myself that way, and partly because I don’t feel like I am that way. I guess sometimes I feel like a fraud, but I’m slowly learning that how I feel isn’t the most important part. Thanks again for this post and for the giveaway chance.
thank you for these beautiful truths and reminders, Suzie. A number of them need to be soaked by my heart. My prayer request would be to see at least a glimpse of God’s purpose for me. Pretty much everything has changed in my life in the last few months, and i feel quite physically and emotionally exhausted from going thru these changes. I know He has good purpose and plan for me, but I think understanding a bit more about what’s next to come or where He wants me to go would help me tremendously in persevering and not getting in His way with my own actions/decisions 🙂 ….
Ok sisters, I’m sitting here, my heart burning, eyes burning. I’m angry at Depression.. such a liar. I’ve been under that sadness, like your drowning in darkness, alone. There’s nothing that could be further from the Truth. Jesus said He Never.. never never leaves us or forsakes us.. On our worst day ever, On the day we “feel” pretty good.. He’s still Present.. His Love unchanging.. He’s not a man that He would lie. His love is the same Yesterday, today, and tomorrow, forever. No matter what. He is an anchor for your soul. He is absolutely For you. Never ever against you, and really, honestly, He looks down on us with a Smile. Picture, if you will, smiling eyes, arms out stretched, Come now, He would say.. Come to Me with all your weariness, I give rest to your soul, My yoke is easy.. My burden is Light. Because He is Light, the Father of lights no variable or shadow of turning. I am the Lord and I change not. He’s our Dad, and He’s a good good Father. I now have a daily practice of just Thanking Him that He’s good.. and He shows up.. without fail with hugs, reassurance, picks me up and says let’s go, again. Hope this helps!
thank you for your message today it help to me to remember iam not alone with my fears and those lies from emeny iam chosen by God and he has give me so many gift to help to my job a long term nurse
I just finished reading all the comments and prayer requests Fathet, my heart aches for these who are in a place of deep struggle, grief, confusion, anger, sense of worthlessness, through the lies the enemy whispers to their minds. Been there so many times. So Fathet, here is my prayer. I love You, I worship You, I lift my voice in praise. You alone are worthy of my praise. You are righteous, just, forgiving and truth. You are hope, grace, mercy and love. You are provider, defender, deliverer and friend. You are Master, Savior and Lord. You are sovereign, You know our going out and going in. You have our days numbered and know the number of hairs on our head. You are beautiful and sacrificial and fight for us. Nothing goes unnoticed or surprises You. Your will is perfect and You are the Creator/ the Author of life. Father knowing all this I have a peace in knowing that You will Always do what you say you’ll do. You cannot lie. Therefore I praise You in my own storm and for being with each of my sisters here. You have a plan for their lives. A purpose they may not see right now. Thank You for empowering them to wait on You. For peace that surpasses all understanding. Thank You for touching them right where they need You. Thank You in advance for the gift of our challenges that draw us closer to You as we wait for Your answers. You are faithful. Thank You for inspiring their hearts with the courage to get up, brush off and Press On with faith in You. You already know their needs. You know all and see all. In our unworthiness You make us royal in Your kingdom. In our fears You put Your arms around us to calm our anxious thoughts. You are healings relationships, mending families. Giving rest and reminding each of us that nothing is impossible for You. Thank You for writing our lives into Your story. We love You so much. We are strong, beautiful, equipped, empowered and free from the enemy’s lies because we have Truth living in us. Jesus! We proclaim and claim that truth right now!!! Today I choose to follow You holy Lord. With a grateful heart In Jesus name Amen
This has been so encouraging to me. I have been going through the darkest time in my life. Sometimes you feel your the only one feeling like this. Please pray for me. My mom passed away from Brain Cancer this year, she was my best friend. My son who is 22 is lost because of some tramatic abuse from a teen when he was in elementary school, things he went through. He cried out to God and felt God did not help him. My marriage of 31 years is the worst it has ever been. We are so far apart and no matter how much I try it just stays the same. I am getting through this by standing on God’s promises and His hope. All of this has left me so sad and broken inside. I am so thankful to Suzie for sharing her heart and being apart of the Proverbs 31 Ministries. I receive the Encouragement for today devotions. It has been a blessing.
I am so very thankful for what God has shown you to spread these truths to those in need and I am one of them. Through you I am learning and the word is changing my stinking thinking. Thank you so very much and God bless you and your ministry.
Excellent post. We must choose truth…. Our feelings change to often to rely on them. Speaking honestly with another person helps tremendously.. you are cutting your trouble in half and gaining new perspective. As well as allowing them to be honest with you, allows them to see that what they are carrying isn’t so bad and they are loved and can be forgiven. Thank you for your post. Love the journal!
Precious Father, I am lifting Maureen up to you for healing of her fear and anxiety. Shine the light of your truth and love and make these feelings flee as far as the east is from the west. Fill her with your joy, peace and love. Fill her to over flowing today and bless her in ways that only you can. Thank you, Father God for hearing her cries. In Jesus name, Amen
Father, we stand with Maureen today and thank you for a peace-filled heart and mind. Pour out peace that makes no sense in the natural. In Jesus’ powerful name, amen.
Sometimes – many times – it is hard to decide which way is the ‘right’ way when I know God will sustain and guide no matter ‘the’ way. In my current circumstance, I am reminding myself that the most important decision is not so much which way to go, but to whom I turn for direction.
Thanks for these! I really needed to read this today. I’ve been struggling with these invisible forces still and was hurt by people who I thought were Christians. I took a leap of faith and went to church after being away for five years and talked with a pastor. Now I’m starting to get confused again, because I’m not sure what they’re telling me is biblical. Please pray for discernment. I’ve been frustrated and just feel alone.
Heavenly Father, I am bringing Alexis before you Lord and ask that you give her wisdom and understanding. Holy Spirit give guide her in discerning whether what is being taught by her Pastor is Biblical or if he is leaing his flock astray. Open her eyes and ears to know your truth, the truth that sets lives free. Lord, I don’t know why she stepped away from church 5 years ago but you do and I ask that she not confuse the people in the church, who hurt her with you, our loving, forgiving, grace filled Father. Heal her hurts and set her free. I thank you Lord for hearing her cries for discernment and for answering her prayer. In Jesus name, Amen
Suzie, Reading this devotion and through the truths was a great comfort for me. Especially #9 and #10. I’m going through a dark place in my life. It’s a familiar darkness I’ve come to know and expect this time of year. As we begin to approach the season of Thanksgiving and Christmas I always get very sad and turn inward. I wish I knew why feel this way. Now that my parents are deceased it’s worse. But what should be a joyful time, with my own children and husband, I wear a mask and pretend to be happy. I get so tired of this same thing year after year. It’s like clockwork. It’s a struggle to do this all the time. I feel very selfish because of how I feel about this upcoming time of year. I have the attitude of just wanting to get through it and for it all to be over. Prayers are appreciated. Would love to have your book. Thanks.
Gracious heavenly Father I bring Cyndi to you this morning as she anticipates this season that causes her these dark feelings. Help her to view these coming holidays with new eyes and new wonder as we prepare to celebrate living a life of gratitude and also the coming of you, our Lord and Savior. Touch her heart and spirit each day anew and bless her with a sense of wonder and awe each day. Thank you, Lord for Cyndi and her desire to break this long, hard pattern. Reveal to her the reasons for these feelings and heal her heart. Help her to reach out to others that have the same struggles. Bring joy, peace, grace and love into her heart and life. In Jesus name I pray, Amen
Thanks for the 12 truths to transform I torn-up heart. I want and need to be grounded in these truths. Each of these truths need to be apart of us.God loves us more than I can humanly grasp. I want to love and accept others as they are and to show others how they can also do this. Love is the key that unlocks our hearts to show others that they our loved by God and He wants them to come to Him.Thanks again for these character building truths which show who we really are in Him.
Thanks for these truths. My heart is hurting right now as my husband and I struggle in our marriage. It seems everything is broken and there is no possible way to fix it. I feel lost and confused, mad at God. I know it is a season and this too shall pass, but it hurts in the muck of it.
Jeanette, Thank you for sharing this painful part of your story. In times like these I cling to Maathew 19:26-things look impossible but we have a miracle working God. Heavenly Fathere I come this morning lifting Jeanette and her husband up to you. I ask that you give her wisdom, understanding, peace, mercy and love as she and her husband walk through these difficult times in their marriage. Soften their hearts and remind them of the love that drew them together. Give them ears to really listen to each other. Heal their hearts and draw them closer each day. Your word tells us not one hurt, not one tear goes unnoticed by you. I thank you, Lord, that Jeanette knows this is a safe place to share her burdens, I praise you Lord because even when we don’t see immediate results we know you are working in the unseen world for our protection and benefit. You are our God of restoration-heal their marriage and show them how they can use these struggles to help other couples going through these same struggle. I praise you and thank you. In Jesus name I prayer, Amen

Thanks for the reminders. These are wonderful truths that we all need to be absorbed in our minds.
Great truth reminders, God is showing me to slow down, to enjoy the unseen moments, though it is not easy!
Please pray for my daughter’s marriage. I forwarded this to her today because she (and I) really need this right now.

During this season of the year I battle depression more than usual. Maybe it is past circumstances that happened during this season or maybe it is the lack of sunshine. So true, Delores, and a beautiful outlook. Joshua 1:9 is one of my favorite verses too.
Delores, your words ministered to me 💕 thank you!

Your writing is such a blessing! Thank you for sharing your heart with us all!
Thank you for the reminder that “Jesus is the ultimate heart surgeon”. Needed to hear that today
Ok sisters, I’m sitting here, my heart burning, eyes burning. I’m angry at Depression.. such a liar. I’ve been under that sadness, like your drowning in darkness, alone.
Your faith is inspiring. Yes, and amen!

With a grateful heart
In Jesus name
Amen
Thank you Suzie for these 12 trutbs, much needed reminders. Love the chart.

Thank you for these 12 truths + the giveaway!! God Bless.
Need all His truths I can get. Being attacked w fear & anxiety. Pls pray for me.
Great reminders of God’s promises!
Great reminder of God’s promises!
Sometimes – many times – it is hard to decide which way is the ‘right’ way when I know God will sustain and guide no matter ‘the’ way. In my current circumstance, I am reminding myself that the most important decision is not so much which way to go, but to whom I turn for direction.
Wonderful Suzie, I love number 10, heart healer and surgeon.
Thanks my teacher and leader who always tells me how God sees me and love. More of His Grace and Love upon you. Remain bless
Suzie,
Reading this devotion and through the truths was a great comfort for me.
Prayers appreciated.
Thank you so much, Nancy.
I’m living out the truth that God is 100% trustworthy!!
