Just three more days of this challenge!
Since we only three days left of Living a Life of Thank You, today’s challenge is to do one of these three things:
- Do something completely unexpected. Pay for someone’s coffee or lunch. Drop a sweet note on their pillow. Call that person you’ve been meaning to call, for no other reason than to say hello. Make a donation in someone’s name or support someone’s nonprofit.
- Make a super short, super fun video. Tell someone about that amazing friend, daughter, mom, or mentor. Share it for the world to see.
- Make cookies (or buy some and put a ribbon on the box) and share them with a neighbor, your pastor’s wife, or anyone who loves cookies and needs a boost of encouragement.

Share what you did. Let me rejoice with you, sweet friend. Giving with no strings attached is one of the most powerful heart-changing things we can do.
And it’s fun!

Day 19 of Living a Life of Thank You
Suzie, is this spiritual?
Um, yes.
Anytime we act selflessly, we become instruments of encouragement. That’s God in action.
Q: Describe a time someone blessed you unexpectedly, and how it made you feel.

Jesus didn’t ask those who followed him to change. He asked them to follow him — right where they were. That invitation of “Come with me,” changed their lives forever. They had no idea, but it would also change the world. Discover the beauty of saying yes to that invitation day-by-day in Suzie’s book, Come With Me.

OH HOW FUN! I love this, Suzie! It’s amazing how giddy I become when my wheels start turning about how to unexpectedly bless someone! It’s my FAVE! I cannot wait to see all of these beautiful stories and photos today! Jesus in action…. YASSSSS!
Oh, yes, Crystal and Suzie, I love this prompt for today! Right now I think I will call by oldest son and his wife who are expecting their second child in June. They live in Lubbock, Texas while we (the grandparents) retired to Oaxaca, Mexico five years ago. I have not seen them since their first was born – my first grandchild – my first granddaughter – back in Sept. 2014. I cannot fly up this year, BUT I can call often. Thank you, Crystal and Suzie. Let the stories begin!!!!!
I absolutely love this! I am continuing on my Intentional Acts of Kindness based on Stephanie Jones’s book, The Giving Challenge, – but even before that – several years ago based on her 522 days of kindness and our “crossing paths after many years” encounter. I love these kindness acts and you have given me the idea to give cookies to our cleaning ladies here at work today! I don’t have time to bake them but our local bakery has wonderful ones. I think it will be a great unexpected surprise! Thank you!
I love Stephanie. She came to our home and stayed with us one night. She’s delightful!
I knelt and asked the Lord what he wanted me to do. I though he would say something like, “Make cookies for that elderly neighbor.” He didn’t. What he asked stunned me, and I had to send a quick text to my sweet guy saying, “I think God is asking us to . . .” I love that God speaks to us. I love that he sees what we cannot.

I started early. Last night I wrote “I love you” in big letters on paper. I set it in front of the computer for my husband to see. I’m going to extend this throughout the weekend.
I didn’t get a chance to read until today. A day late for the fun but never too late to do something unexpected. Great idea.
I’m meeting with a friend. Praying about ways to encourage her.
I love blessing others, throughout the year, not for birthdays, not for anniversaries, just because I saw something they would like and I decided to get it for them. Their smiles are priceless. I have had two rough years, physically and financially, and God knew I needed some encouragement so last week a group of friends blessed me big time. Can I be honest-the words “This is for YOU” are hard to receive-I want to share this blessing with everyone but my friend, who delivered it, and God keeps confirming it, that this was a blessing for me. I will not soon forget how God showered me with blessings and in the process confirmed my calling and word for 2019-RESTORATION!!
This day of giving last year completely changed our lives, and I’m forever grateful! It is amazing how God works; he is always ALWAYS faithful!
A friend lost her husband to cancer this fall, and she has been battling depression since his passing. She’s a woman of faith, and yet, this was her soulmate, the man she’d been one with for over 30 years. It shook her hard. I wanted to bless her and a couple of weeks ago felt like God was asking me to help make her holidays joyful. It was so clear and bright that I couldn’t ignore it. So, I got a few friends on board and we decided to bless her with 12 Days of Christmas. I decided to make a wood ornament for each night, to go along w/ the gifts, that had different scriptures referencing joy on them. Beginning December 1st and through to last night, we snuck gifts onto her porch, vehicle, desk… various ways and places. One night we surprised her with dinner and a trip to see Christmas lights, and another night our families went caroling to her home. I cannot tell you how much of a BLAST this has been! Praying for her as we picked out each night’s blessing, as I created each ornament… God just blessed my socks off throughout this. The most beautiful part of the whole thing is that when we went caroling to her home Monday night, she told us through tears that one week before we began the gifts, she asked for special prayer in church because she needed God to bring her “joy in the midst of her sorrow”….. ALL THE TEARS!!!!! God is so incredibly amazing. What an honor it is to assist Him in miracles on earth by our giving!
Thank you for such beautiful words, Suzie!
