Right down the street is a vulnerable woman.
Right across from you in church is a vulnerable woman.
It’s easy to become overwhelmed when we think of all the needs around us. Maybe you think, What can one person do?
We can see them and we can support those who love them.
While we are not able to fix every issue, each of us can make a difference.
Today I share one of the most important conversations I’ve had in a long time. It’s with Lauren Snodgrass, a woman in the trenches with refugee families — deemed as the most vulnerable of the vulnerable.
In this conversation (listen on YouTube if you can’t get it here), Lauren shares the definition of a refugee. She shares a story of a family whose life was changed because people loved them.
As we talked, these points stood out to me. I believe they apply to all of us.
- We were made and created to love people who are vulnerable
- There is a lot of misinformation and it’s important to know what is true and what is not
- Together we are stronger
Let’s take this deeper right here.
- How has this conversation helped you understand more about the vulnerable refugee family (who may be living down the street from you)?
- How can we see those who are vulnerable?
- How can we love those in the trenches ministering to the vulnerable?
I’d love to take this deeper with you. Every question is welcomed.

Thank you, thank you. Suzie
Suzie and Lauren, I can not even image living in a refugee camp for 22 years, I just can’t. I can not imagine moving to a foreign country and stepping into a huge learning curve of newness and starting over. I am spoiled.
Thank you for shining a spot light of the life of a refugee. Lauren, your story of the hospital brought tears, sadness and joy mixed in with some frustration. Why frustration? Due to people’s fears or misunderstanding or just not knowing. Also, frustration with me.
May God continue to bless you, your coworkers and Canopy NWA, Lauren. Thank you for sharing your heart and passion and loving others so deeply. Michele
